Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are organized groups of faculty and staff who share common interests, identities, or experiences. ERGs provide opportunities for social connection, mutual support, and engagement outside of formal workplace structures.

Below are links to join the Google Spaces for our current Employee Resource Groups! Each group will use their Google Space to share info on formal meetings but also to drop information and helpful resources around their topic.

  • Readers Club

Meet with other employees for dedicated reading time and to hear what other books folks are enjoying! Use the Google Space to share books, get recommendations, find a reading buddy, and more.

    Group Leads
Ashlea Perry, Laurel Buffaloe, & Alexis Pandelios
  • Parent Support Club

Meet with other parents/guardians and their kids at local parks or other fun spots to connect and let the little ones get their energy out. Plus, parents will be able to share resources with each other like fun, free activities nearby, daycare/school recommendations, and more.

    Group Leads
    Bry Metcalf & Michael McNamee
  • Outdoor Activity Club

Find other employees that love the outdoors too! This group will coordinate group hikes and other outings. You’ll also be able to ask for recommendations, find others with more niche interests, and learn about cool spots in WNC.

Group Leads

Group Leads are responsible for coordinating communication with group members and scheduling 2 gatherings (on-campus or off-campus, in person or virtual) per academic year. If you are interested in serving as the Group Lead for either of these groups, please submit this form.

There are two ERGs that do not have Group Leads.

  • Foodies Club – a group for employees interested in exploring local restaurants and culinary experiences
  • Music Lovers’ Group – a community for employees who enjoy music appreciation or attending concerts in the Asheville area

If you have questions or ideas, feel free to reach out to either Staff Council (staffcouncil@unca.edu) or Jacob Misch, Vice Chair of Employee Belonging & Wellness  (jmisch@unca.edu).
