SUMMER IS HERE! UNC Asheville Pre-College Program Welcomes Record Enrollment

The University of North Carolina Asheville’s nationally-recognized Pre-College Programs started this week with historic enrollment. Students came to Asheville from as far away as Texas, California, and even internationally.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — June 18, 2026 — The University of North Carolina Asheville’s nationally-recognized Pre-College Programs started this week with historic enrollment. Students came to Asheville from as far away as Texas, California, and even internationally. Watch the video.

According to Pre-College Program Director Blair Jenkins, “We’re excited to have such an engaged group of students on campus. This week alone we have 113 Pre-College participants on campus taking part in a wide variety of programs, including Creative Writing, Ceramic Pottery, Geology & Adventure, Engineering & Mechatronics, Wildlife Wonders: Appalachian Zoology, and Pre-Med.

Next week, we’ll welcome another 95 students, bringing our total Pre-College enrollment to 208 participants. These students will be participating in programs such as Creative Writing, Film Scoring & Sound Design, Music Composition & Songwriting, River Ecology & Adventure, Engineering & Mechatronics, Game Design & AI, and Meteorology.
