The Body of the Golem: A Life in Portraiture

November 15 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Artist and writer Riva Lehrer brings together portraiture, Jewish tradition, disability, and the figure of the golem for the 2026 Phyllis Freed Sollod Memorial Lecture in the Mountain View Room of the Sherrill Center. Through art and storytelling, Lehrer explores who gets labeled “monstrous,” who has the power to define that label, and what becomes possible when people claim their own bodies and identities. This lecture is sponsored by the Center for Jewish Studies.

The event is free and open to the public.
