Hi! I’m Emily (she/her). I am a Counseling Intern at the Health and Counseling Center for the 2026-2027 school year. I am a UNCA alumna with my B.S. in Psychology, and in May of 2027, I will graduate with my Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and will pursue counseling licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My role as a budding therapist is profoundly influenced by my experiences working in social work and mental health environments on and off for the past ten years.

I am passionate about supporting students who are navigating grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, LGBTQIA concerns, identity exploration, chronic illness, faith transitions/religious trauma, anxiety, depression, and more. My therapeutic style is grounded, curious, and person-centered and draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and more.

My priority with clients is to collaboratively work together to make counseling a place where you not only feel seen and safe but where you also feel empowered and supported to address your concerns in a way that leads to lasting positive change.

When I’m not working, you can find me fusion or contra dancing, backpacking, playing piano or saxophone, singing, tending to my garden, or reading or writing poetry.
