The
Highsmith University Union is an extraordinary gathering place for
the UNC Asheville community. With more than 74,000 square feet,
the Highsmith Union includes a spacious student organization wing,
great meeting rooms, performance venues, gameroom, a computer lounge, an art gallery as well
as casual spaces throughout the building. Services include the Food
Court, Rocky's Convenience Store, the University Bookstore, the Cycle Shop. There
are also administrative offices for the Career Center, the Center
for Teaching and Learning, Leadership Programs,
Multicultural Student Programs, and the Offices of Student Activities
and Integrative Learning as well as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
MISSION
Highsmith
University Union is the center of UNCA campus life. Highsmith University
Union is dedicated to serving the entire campus community as a social
center and by offering a variety of programs. Union programs, while
being educational and fun, are opportunities for participants to
develop a lifelong commitment to personal wellness, practice leadership,
and develop a sense of attachment to their peers, to the Union and
to the University. The Union offers comprehensive development programs
for student staff focusing on transferable skills, field specific
skills, and program ownership.
