Heath Nettles brings more than two decades of leadership experience and professional practice to UNC Asheville's Department of Business, where he has taught since 2016. His teaching experience includes both undergraduate and graduate courses in management, organizational behavior, strategy, communications and public relations, marketing, and digital and social media, connecting students with the real-world leadership challenges and opportunities shaping today’s organizations. He earned his undergraduate degree in Journalism while pursuing studies in Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from Western Carolina University, and completed advanced studies in Project Management through Stanford University.

His professional experience spans healthcare, higher education, nonprofit leadership and consulting, with work alongside organizations including Mission Health, Queen’s Health Systems, Western Carolina University, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, UNC Chapel Hill, The Recycling Partnership, the National Stewardship Action Council, and the Stewardship Action Foundation. In addition to teaching, Heath serves as Executive Director of the National Stewardship Action Council and the Stewardship Action Foundation, where he leads national initiatives that unlock the public health, environmental, and economic benefits of a circular economy across the United States.
