She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Technology from Florida International University and an MFA in Sound Design from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Her recent creative work includes composing music and designing sound for 12 Ophelias (a play with broken songs), staged at the University of Texas at Austin in 2019. She also created the music and sound design for The LeftEarlies, a play by Amy da Luz staged at the Milton Rhodes Center in Winston-Salem in 2022 and later adapted into an audio drama released in 2024. Her song cycle Matilda, about the stillbirth of her daughter, premiered with Pan Harmonia, an Asheville-based chamber music organization, in 2026. That year, she also designed and programmed the interactive music system for Playing the Pipes as part of The Community Garden, an art installation that debuted at The Orange Peel during the Connect Beyond Festival.

Carolina previously taught music and audio production at colleges and universities in the Miami area. At the University of Texas at Austin, she taught music production, live sound, and sound design, mentoring students working across music, theatre, dance, and immersive environments. Since joining UNC Asheville in 2020, she has taught studio and live audio engineering, music production, and electronic music. She has also contributed to TheatreUNCA mainstage productions as a musical director, sound system designer and engineer, and audio supervisor. Her teaching emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. Since 2022, she has co-led the Sound Design and Technology Commission of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT).
