DeVille's lecture will focus on how educators can navigate an increasingly polarized climate where they are under unprecedented scrutiny by school boards, parents and citizens, especially when it comes to teaching the United States' history of slavery, disenfranchisement, terrorism, and economic injustice.

Queer Studies Conference

UNC Asheville will host its biennial Queer Studies Conference from March 24-26 on campus, bringing together scholars, artists and activists for workshops and presentations focusing on the theme “Blooming: Metamorphoses and Seasons of Queerness.” This conference is open to the pubic and free for all attendees, with a suggested donation of $20-60.
