Partners

The UNC Asheville Microgrid Research Group is successful because of our collaboration with well-established local institutions and experienced individuals. It is through these unique partnerships that students gain real-world experience, and simultaneously help transition our community to utilizing microgrids.

Our primary partner is the Critical Services Microgrid Group. We also collaborate with folks across the country. If you’d like to become a partner, contact our team for more information.

The Critical Services Microgrid (CSM) Group members are volunteer professionals and students with extensive experience in IT, GIS, energy, engineering, education, finance, philanthropy, and public service. Our mission is to promote community resilience in Buncombe County through investments in renewable energy and microgrid technologies.

Warren Wilson College is a private liberal arts institution located in Asheville, North Carolina. Warren Wilson is the country’s only liberal arts college with a national student body and integrated work and service programs. Students from Warren Wilson have been collaborating with the Microgrid Research Group to upscale golf carts to be solar charged and act as mobile microgrid work vehicles.
