Paul Forte was named Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance and Chief Operating Officer at UNC Asheville in June 2024. He previously served in various financial and administrative roles within the UNC System including Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs at Appalachian State and as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance at both UNC Charlotte and UNC Greensboro.

Prior to joining UNC Charlotte in 2014, Forte served as Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller at Rhode Island College (2000-2014) and as the Controller of the University of Rhode Island (1999-2000). He holds an International Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Merrimack College.

Forte has over 30 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, purchasing, risk management and financial operations in both the private and public sectors, in the United States and abroad.
