I graduated from UNC Asheville in 2016 with a degree in Health and Wellness Promotion. I went on to get my master’s degree from Texas State University in Exercise and Sports Science and graduated in 2018. While at Texas State, I was the Graduate Assistant for the Women’s Basketball program assisting with guard skill development, film exchange, managerial responsibilities, and was in charge of our male practice players. I got hired on as an assistant coach following graduation at Texas State. My responsibilities were assisting with guard development, social media, and recruiting. At UNC Asheville, I played for the women’s basketball team from 2012-2016. My senior year we had a record breaking season where we were Big South Regular Season and Tournament Champions. While I had the privilege of playing Division 1 basketball, I also received a phenomenal education. I use the word phenomenal, because the Health and Wellness department at UNCA is special for many reasons including the small classroom environment, multiple professional development opportunities, and a holistic approach to preventive health.

At UNC Asheville, I learned the value in service learning and was able to transfer this to my graduate school classes. Honestly, I had an easier transition than others because my graduate program was service learning based. At UNCA, I was able to do undergraduate research and had the opportunity to present at a conference as well as get research published as an undergraduate. This also enhanced my experience in graduate school because I was already prepared for doing research as well as dissecting and analyzing research articles. Thank you UNCA and HWP for an AWESOME four years. I would go back and do it all over again without hesitation.

From 2020-2022, I was an assistant coach at UNC Asheville for the women's basketball team and in Spring of 2021, I was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2021 Thirty-Under-30 list. It was awesome to work for UNC Asheville for two years.

Recently, I took a position back at Texas State in April 2022. My partner and I have been doing distance for over three years and this professional move back to Texas is so that we could finally live together. We recently got a puppy named Beaux and I am enjoying being back in Texas and at Texas State. I will always be a bulldog at heart and thankful for all my memories in Asheville, North Carolina.

    Go Bulldogs & Go Bobcats!
