    Nina is NEMAC's Interim Director of Operations, and also serves as the group's Lead Science Editor and as a Research Scientist. As such, she manages NEMAC's day-to-day operations and is responsible for overall editorial management. She has been with NEMAC since 2009.

    As Interim Director of Operations, Nina manages NEMAC's organizational and funding program, which includes overseeing external grants, contracts, and agreements and individual program and project budgets. She works closely with funding agents and UNC Asheville staff to execute NEMAC's project-related financial and operational goals, and fosters relationships with NEMAC's external funders and stakeholders.

    As Lead Science Editor, she is responsible for synthesizing and coordinating the content of NEMAC's scientific and technical decision-making tools and visualizations to assure that quality information is conveyed to an appropriate audience, with particular attention to conceptual clarity, accuracy, and format. Nina also works on the development and implementation of NEMAC's digital storytelling products, content management systems, and facilitated group decision making.

    Prior to joining the NEMAC team, Nina spent nine years at UNC Asheville’s Mössbauer Effect Data Center, where she was the Managing Editor of the Mössbauer Effect Reference and Data Journal, an international scientific reference journal. Previously, she worked as a digital editor for CMC ReSearch, Inc., a CD-ROM publisher of medical journals and titles located in Portland, Oregon, and spent 12 years in the legal field, working as a corporate and securities legal assistant in Tampa, Florida. Nina holds an Masters of Liberal Arts and Sciences degree from UNC Asheville with a focus on sustainability and local food systems and a B.A. in English Literature from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
