Maya Newlin joined the North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness (NCCHW) at UNC Asheville in April 2021 as a Project Manager for the Health Policy Collaborative with the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC). Prior to her start Maya worked in medicare sales and marketing and taught health sciences at the secondary education level. Maya’s career passions center around health equity and international public health. She brings extensive knowledge in health policy research, program design, and community engagement to the team. As an alumna of the university and native of North Carolina she is deeply connected to her work. In her spare time she enjoys attending drag races, volunteering at local child resource centers and dancing
