Luis is a graduate from the University of Miami with a Master's of Science in Finance. Upon graduating, he took on a role as an investment analyst, investigating and acting on macroeconomic trends domestically and internationally to allocate and optimize Ultra High Net Worth clients' portfolios. His first exposure to the investment industry also gave him the opportunity to learn how to build and organize a boutique investment firm, from onboarding clients to opening and closing accounts, and executing trades based on
macroeconomic analysis. Further, he enhanced his experience at the Bank of New York Mellon by taking on years as an investment accountant, overseeing day-to-day operations. Eventually, he took on the role of Product Owner at the Broker-Dealer arm of the bank, Pershing, where he refined and built their software to efficiently book trades between investment managers and brokers.

Now in academia, Luis is passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge with the next generation. His end goal is to empower UNCA students to feel comfortable with the financial markets to create capital and have the ability to run their own ventures with strong acumen in finance, whatever their underlying passion may be. When it comes to business, his mantra is simple: Anything is possible.

Outside of work, Luis is an avid runner with an inclination towards trails and ultramarathons. His upcoming races include the Grindstone 100 Miler and the Marine Corps Marathon. He also enjoys getting creative in the kitchen with his cast-iron skillets and writing songs with his guitar when time allows.
