Jonathan R. Brown, Ph.D. is a labor economist. His research interests include worker rights, productivity valuation, and conflict resolution and bargaining mechanisms. Additionally, he has published case studies exploring core economic concepts through an historic lens. These studies include game theory and an early 20th century farming cooperative in Western North Carolina, rationality and storytelling, and healthcare economics and the life of Zelda Fitzgerald. He was the 2017 recipient of Mars Hill University’s Hart-Melvin Archival Research Fellowship.

He has taught a wide range of courses including Sports Economics, Environmental Economics, Labor Economics, and Econometrics.  He received a bachelors degree (2007) from Saint Joseph’s University and a masters degree (2011) and PhD (2017) in economics from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
