    Jim Peterson was born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois area, spent nearly 30 years in Minnesota and has resided in North Carolina since 2006.

    A first-generation college graduate, Jim received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Illinois University and his MBA from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Jim began his career in construction equipment manufacturing, distribution and rental with Caterpillar Tractor Co. He is the former CEO of Metroquip Inc. a construction equipment distribution and rental firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was acquired by Rental Service Corp. in 1998.

    He has served as a nonprofit volunteer and board member with Rebuild Resources in St. Paul, Minnesota and as a volunteer and board chair of MANNA Foodbank in Asheville. He also serves as an overlook adoption volunteer on the Blue Ridge Parkway with the National Park Service.
