Heather Nelson has a lifelong dedication to nonprofit service, both as a volunteer and as an employee. She currently serves as the Controller for Blue Ridge Public Radio, a public broadcast organization and NPR member station for Western North Carolina. As a nonprofit management professional, she enjoys making improvements to the operational and financial performance of the organizations she serves, instituting best practices to address transparency and stewardship of donor funds, and providing important human resources, compliance and risk management support. She also held significant roles in commercial property management, event management and ticketing services. Heather earned her BS in Business from UNC Asheville and holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University’s Continuing Studies Program. She holds the Department of Business in high regard. She enjoys spending time with family, seeking out local and international food destinations, and entertaining friends.
