Bio

Forest Gamble is an animator, illustrator, comics artist, and documentary filmmaker. He earned a BA in New Media and German from UNC Asheville (2019) and a Master's in Stop-Motion Animation from the BAU, College of Arts and Design of Barcelona (2021). He is the co-director of the stop-motion short HEXED and the forthcoming hybrid animated short Chicken of the Woods. His work has been featured in Times Square, the Center for Craft, CERN, TEDx UNC Asheville, and over 40 international film festivals. He has worked on three award-winning feature films, creating animation for the recent Deep Astronomy and the Romantic Sciences (dir. Cory McAbee, 2022). He was a 2021 Maker-in-Residence at the UNC Asheville STEAM Studio in Asheville, NC, and a 2021-22 Artist-in-Residence at the Sequential Artist's Workshop in Gainesville, FL. His research interests include sustainable design for stop-motion animation, traditional craft of Appalachia, and mycology. He teaches video and animation courses in the New Media department at UNC Asheville.
