The Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residential Education oversees the residence life component of the on campus living experience and supervises the Community Directors, and the Resident Assistant Staff. The Director of Residential Education coordinates the educational, cultural, and social activities in the residence halls. She also provides goal setting and long range planning for the residential component of the program. In addition, the Director of Residential Education serves as the Citizenship Education Coordinator, administering the Student Code of Community Standards and the Citizenship Education process.

Melanie is a graduate of UNC Asheville and Western Carolina University. She is beginning her 19th year with the University working for the Residential Education side of UNC Asheville's Student Affairs division. Melanie loves to hike and spend time with her dachshund, Molly, when she has free time, and used to be an avid clogger.
