Over the years, Dr. Cynthia Canejo’s scholarship has developed in two distinct areas: Latin American art and Medieval architecture. Thus, she has been dividing her time between research on art in Latin America (specializing in Brazilian, Mexican, and Chicanx art) and Medieval architecture (centering on Early Gothic construction in the southern Paris Basin). In both areas, she has received funding for studies which have emphasized innovative aspects of artists, builders, or workers. In Medieval architecture, her focus has grown to emphasize the builders of small Early Gothic churches. In the art of Latin America, her work has drawn attention to the inspired works of Brazilian, Mexican, and Latinx contemporary artists.
