Cory Bryson started June 1, 2023, as the new Director of Government Relations. A native of Gastonia with deep ties to Western North Carolina, Cory has more than a decade of experience in local, state, and federal government relations, working with top Republican and Democratic leaders in the House, Senate, and executive branch. Most recently, he served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Speaker of the North Carolina General Assembly. His experience and skills will help position UNC Asheville’s legislative priorities for success.

A first-generation graduate of Belmont Abbey College deeply committed to the power of higher education to transform lives, Cory also honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps.
