I graduated from UNCA in May of 2015. While in the Biology program, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Hale, Dr. Ward, and Professor Kennedy in a research project funded by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service characterizing the structure of genetic diversity in purple pitcher plants in Western North Carolina. The education that I received from the Biology department and the academic research that I performed at UNCA provided me with the skills needed for my first position after college. I worked as clinical research coordinator at the UNC Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Chapel Hill. Currently, I am a physician assistant student at Drexel University in Philadelphia. As a future practicing PA, I hope to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to limited English proficient communities in family medicine.
