Bolling has over 35 years of experience in engineering and program management, providing IT system solutions to the U.S. Government. She currently serves as an advisor and consultant to senior government leadership. She has held executive positions at Raytheon, BAE, and Booz Allen Hamilton. Prior to joining industry, she was a Mathematics Professor at the University of Florida. She graduated from Hollins University and earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Since moving to Asheville in 2014, Bolling has been an active supporter of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, currently serving as President of the Board of Directors. Bolling is also incoming chair of the Steering Committee of Women for Women, a grant giving circle of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. Bolling is a member of the Society of International Business Fellows. Bolling's hobbies are international travel, playing the piano, and golf.
