Ashe Cosette, Lecturer of New Media, is a visual artist, writer, and musician. Her artistic vision connects aspects of eastern-philosophical tenants and spirituality with classical western principles, simulation theory, and metaphysics in the context of digital media. Her conception of teaching and learning as craft aligns with a focus on wisdom and virtue instead of prominence, competition, or status.

Ashe has worked for over 10 years as a professional artist with a background in commercial graphic design and direct-to-garment printing. Lately, she has focused on local performance art and become increasingly involved with Asheville’s own synthesizer and circuit-bending community, Asheville Synth Club and Make Noise. Ashe’s research leads headway with virtual reality as a live performance venue.

Currently, Ashe is writing and recording a visual electronic rock LP that addresses the contemporary boundaries and conceptual experiences of identity, gender, and consciousness.

Ashe is a UNCA graduate (2011) with a BA in Multimedia Arts & Sciences and an MFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design (2014). She teaches introductory and intermediate-level animation classes at UNC Asheville, including in storyboarding, modeling, and rigging.
