Alexandra “Alex” Hollifield (she/her) joined UNCA in Fall 2021 as the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and transitioned to her new role, QEP Co-Director and Associate Director of Leadership Education and Development, in June 2022. Alex is passionate about using an equity framework to support leadership development, facilitate innovative programs, and create spaces where all students feel a sense of belonging. Previously, she worked in Student Affairs at the Vanderbilt University Women’s Center where she developed and led programming on sexual violence prevention, leadership development, and positive mental health promotion. Alex has also worked as the Prevention Coordinator for the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs where she oversaw statewide implementation of a bystander intervention curriculum in high schools and collaboratively created a new framework for violence prevention in historically marginalized communities. Most recently, she served as the Senior Program Manager with Youth Empowered Solutions where she worked alongside high school-aged youth to create more equitable policies in local schools. Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and Political Science from Wake Forest University and a Master’s degree in Community Development and Action from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. She lives in Asheville with her husband, Ben and their golden retriever, Harper.
