UNC Asheville Recognized Among “Colleges Worth Your Money” for the Third Consecutive Year

March 13, 2024

In the ever-evolving landscape of higher education, where prospective students and their families focus even more on return on investment, UNC Asheville continues to stand out as a wise choice for prospective students. The University has been featured in the upcoming college guidebook, “Colleges Worth Your Money” by Rowman & Littlefield, reaffirming its commitment to providing an impactful and affordable education.

The 2025 edition marks the third consecutive year that UNC Asheville has been selected as one of only 200 institutions nationwide to be highlighted by the guidebook. Notably, UNC Asheville shares this recognition with only two other North Carolina schools, UNC Chapel Hill and NC State, showcasing the University’s exceptional standing within the state.

With over 75 key statistics covering admissions, career outcomes, costs, and financial aid, the profile offers a detailed look into the University’s commitment to accessibility and social mobility.

One of the significant highlights of UNC Asheville’s efforts to be affordable is its new and ambitious initiative, Access Asheville. This program pledges full tuition and fees for qualified North Carolina residents whose household Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $80,000 or less.

The AGI threshold is well-above the state’s median income of $65,000, meaning Access Asheville has the potential to positively impact more than half of North Carolina families. The program provides an annual savings of at least $7,501 per family.

Access Asheville is made possible through a combination of federal and state grants, scholarships, aid, and private gifts, ensuring that qualifying students have their tuition and fees completely covered by financial aid.

In light of this recognition, UNC Asheville remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering an education that not only prepares students for successful and impactful careers but also ensures their sound economic future.

The 5th edition of “Colleges Worth Your Money” is now available for preorder here.
