In a dedication ceremony on Oct. 19, 2018, UNC Asheville named its humanities lecture hall for recently retired faculty members (from left) Deborah (Dee) Grier-James (English), Charles James (chemistry), and political scientists Dwight Mullen and Dolly Jenkins-Mullen. The four were hired in 1984 in an attempt to de-segregate the university’s faculty, and made important contributions to the campus during their 34 years of teaching, scholarship and advocacy.
Video of the naming ceremony can be viewed on UNC Asheville’s Facebook page. And the ceremony unveiling the building name is available here.
