UNC Asheville March 24 Virtual Town Hall Meeting

At noon on March 24, 2020, Chancellor Nancy J. Cable, Provost Kai Campbell, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bill Haggard, and Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, Institutional Equity and General Counsel Heather Parlier all fielded questions from students, faculty and staff in the university’s first-ever virtual town hall meeting, held on Facebook Live.

Video of the town hall is posted online here: https://coronavirus.unca.edu/video-messages/

Some 380 people viewed it live.

“This is a time when we believe we should come together even more closely as an academic community though we are physically farther apart,” said Chancellor Cable in closing the town hall. “Our university traditions of kindness, empathy toward each other and those in our Asheville and Buncombe County and regional communities, and our notable and historic collective resilience as a university, will help bring us together in a spirit of shared humanity during these very difficult, very complicated and in some ways very anxious times. It will bring us together around a spirit of shared humanity which is at the core of what our academic mission really is all about.

“So in these uncertain times, stay in touch, ask questions, let us be a support to you as you’re going through whatever you and your family are facing. This will pass. We will persist, and we will prevail. Thank you so much everyone for joining us today,” she said.
