TheatreUNCA will stage two back-to-back absurdist one-act plays, The Room, and The Bald Soprano, with four performances opening Feb. 28 in UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theater. Evening performances will take place Thursday-Saturday Feb. 28-March 2 with curtain at 7:30 p.m. One matinee will be offered at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.

The Room, written by Harold Pinter, and The Bald Soprano, written by Eugene Ionesco, are both works in the “theatre of the absurd,” and focus of themes of existentialism; miscommunication; and dark, even menacing humor. The all-student cast includes Alex Mbuthia, Jarrett Lefler, Dan Wood, Mae Tesh, Alex Fus, and Geordie Bailey.

The Room is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc., New York. The Bald Soprano (trans. Howe) is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

General admission for The Room and The Bald Soprano is $12 and $7 for students; for information and tickets visit drama.unca.edu/theatre-unca or call 828.232.2291.
