TheatreUNCA will stage A Company of Wayward Saints, a comedy by award-winning playwright George Herman and directed by Adam Cohen, with four performances opening Oct. 3 in UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theatre. Evening performances will take place Thursday-Saturday Oct. 3-5 with curtain at 7:30 p.m. One matinee will be offered at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.

A Company of Wayward Saints follows a commedia dell’arte acting troupe, with familiar Renaissance-era characters such as Pantalone, the greedy old man, and Capitano, the swaggering braggart, as they attempt to perform a play showcasing the history of man in order to earn the money to return home. When their plans go awry, the troupe is forced to look beyond the slapstick and costumes and face the redeeming power of humor and human understanding.

The cast includes UNC Asheville students, faculty and staff: Kate Brizzolara, Jack Cook, Alex Fus, George Heard, Steven Hunt, Kerigan Martin, Dana Stewart, Thomas Townsend and Julia Woods.

A Company of Wayward Saints is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concords Theatricals Company.

General admission is $12; free for UNC Asheville students and staff; $7 for students; $10 for UNC Asheville faculty and seniors. For information and tickets visit drama.unca.edu or call 828.232.2291.
