UNC Asheville is opening registration for summer courses, including five summer sessions and the Great Smokies Writing Program. Summer camps, such as STEAM Studio’s SkillSet, are available for middle school and high school students, and high school students can enroll in immersive Pre-College Programs for an on-campus experience or in the online Great Smokies Young Writers Workshop to work directly with professionals in academic topics and creative endeavors.

Undergraduate Summer Classes

Most summer 2021 undergraduate courses at UNC Asheville will be online, with a few hybrid or in-person sources, with terms ranging from four- to eight-weeks. Summer 2021 tuition is about half the cost per credit hour when compared to fall and spring semesters: in-state residents pay $158.11 (per credit hour) and out-of-state residents pay $533.85 (per credit hour)

General education requirements including the Liberal Arts Core and Humanities are offered in the summer, as well as special topics such as film studies, health and wellness, international relations, languages and literature, sciences and neuroscience, music and more.

Registration for non-degree seeking students starts April 19, with more information at https://www.unca.edu/academics/summer-courses/.

On-campus housing is also available this summer for admitted students attending one or more summer sessions, as well as for undergraduate or graduate students from any university who will be living in Asheville for internships. Courses meet 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day via Zoom. The program is open to rising 9th graders through rising first-year college students, and the two classes will cover Black Poets of the 20th & 21st Century and Writing for Audio Drama (podcasts).
