POSTPONED: Prescribed Burn Scheduled at UNC Asheville, Jan. 8 in Partnership with Asheville Fire Department

The Asheville Fire Department training burn at UNC Asheville on Jan. 8, 2021, has been postponed due to expected winter weather weather. This prescribed burn, which was been rescheduled from Dec. 15, 2020, due to weather, was scheduled to place between 8 a.m. in 3 p.m. in the meadow adjacent to Mullen Park and near the Glenn’s Creek Greenway.

Please note that during a prescribed burn: Fire or smoke visible during that time does not need to be reported, as the Asheville Fire Department is managing the burn. If you have a smoke sensitivity, please make plans to avoid the area during this time.

The project will offer ecological benefits and academic opportunities while providing a training opportunity for the Asheville Fire Department.
