UNC Asheville Hosts “NextFest,” Showcasing Careers, Service Opportunities, and Graduate Schools on Oct. 4

UNC Asheville’s Career Center will host “NextFest,” an event showcasing 70 local, regional and national careers, internships, service opportunities and graduate schools from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in UNC Asheville Sherrill Center Concourse. NextFest is free and open to area students, alumni and community members, who will find opportunities to find the next steps which will allow them utilize their talents and advance their goals.

NextFest will focus on the theme “MAKE,” or Meet Asheville’s Key Employers and Experiences; exhibitors will fall into four themes: Make a Profit for the business and finance track, Make a Product through manufacturing and craft, Make a Difference in area nonprofits, and Make Someone’s Day with careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Employers, organizations and experiences include:

  • Make a Product: Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, Ohio Electric Motors, InfoSys and Fast Enterprises
  • Make a Profit: HomeTrust Bank, OceanX and Orange Theory Fitness.
  • Make a Difference: Peace Corps, Blue Ridge Literacy Council and YMCA of Western North Carolina.
  • Make Someone’s Day: The Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Farms Hotels and Rhubarb Restaurant.

As part of the day’s activities, a drawing for a free suit will be held, sponsored by Jos. A. Bank and Dillard’s. The drawing is open to UNC Asheville students and alumni only.
