UNC Asheville’s Great Smokies Writing Program (GSWP) will present 11 courses this fall for community writers – all fully online. The GSWP, now celebrating its 20th year of workshops with some of Western North Carolina’s finest authors, is offering 10-week courses for writers of different levels of experience that begin in mid-September, and 15-week courses for experienced writers that begin in late August.

- Composing the Personal Essay: A Creative Nonfiction Workshop with Sebastian Matthews
- Heart of the Story: Writing for Children and Young Adults Fiction Workshop with Joy Neaves and Rebecca Petruck
- Poetry Master Class with Eric Nelson
- Workshoppers at Home: Online Creative Prose Workshop with Vicki Lane
- Prose Master Class with Elizabeth Lutyens.
The Great Smokies Writing Program is committed to providing the community with affordable university-level classes taught by professional writers. To ensure that students receive individual attention from the instructor, enrollment is limited.
