The Turning of the Maples has long-been an annual fall tradition at UNC Asheville, but this year it’s on the move and coming to you, for a celebration wherever you are. UNC Asheville has announced the inaugural Turning of the Maples Virtual 5K. Complete your 3.1 mile run/walk the weekend of October 23-25, 2020, to take in the colorful fall leaves wherever you are.

Registration is now open at unca.edu/Virtual5K and the $10 fee includes an exclusive Turning of the Maples 5K beanie hat, a Turning of the Maples 5K sticker, and a downloadable race bib to print off at home. Participants will also have an opportunity to win additional prizes as part of virtual teams. The team with the highest number of participants by Sunday, October 25 will receive a Turning of the Maples care package, which includes a maple leaf cookie cutter, a recipe for UNC Asheville famous maple cookies, and hot cider mix.

This year’s Turning of the Maples Virtual 5K is sponsored by the UNC Asheville Alumni Association, Campus Recreation, and Student Government Association. A portion of the $10 registration is a gift to the UNC Asheville fund, which supports students and programs across campus.
