Hey Bulldogs! It’s getting to be that time of the year again, Exam Week! Exams and final projects can be a stressful time, so remember to take some time to relax and rest your brains. Here’s a list of some fun and relaxing events and activities to enjoy on and off-campus.

Yoga

It can be hard to focus through the endless notes and books, so join Campus Rec’s Yoga Yourself to Sleep to help clear your head and decompress. The event will be at 9 p.m. on November 29 in the Meditation Room (Sherrill 468). The Honors Program will also be hosting yoga on November 28 in the Laurel Forum at 5:30 p.m.

Relaxation Days with SGA

UNC Asheville’s SGA will be holding two destress and relaxation events before exams. The first will be on November 29, at noon in the Grotto for Relaxation Day. The second will be Destress Before the Test in the Ramsey Library Lobby on Reading Day, December 5, at 11:30 a.m. SGA will have food and the ever-wonderful therapy dogs. Come and hang out with SGA’s and humankind’s best friends.

NowPoints Auction

It’s time again for the semi-annual NowPoints Auction; make sure to come out at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 1 in The Grotto to spend all those NowPoints that you’ve been earning this semester. Highsmith Union’s team has all kinds of gifts, with some of the top prizes being a Firestick flat screen TV, six free tickets to The Orange Peel and a pot-and-pan set.

Get Outside!

We Bulldogs are so lucky to be in such a beautiful and magical place, surrounded by so many amazing landscapes. So take a breather by taking a walk! We suggest walking along the Greenway that hugs campus; it is can accessed by walking down University Heights toward the traffic circle and turning right. From the Greenway you can also access the Asheville Botanical Gardens, which sit right on the edge of campus.

Pickleball!?

What, you’ve never heard of pickleball? You can play the fastest growing game in the country when Campus Rec hosts a Pickleball tournament for students on Reading Day, December 5, at 1:30 p.m. Pickleball is kind of a combination of badminton, tennis and table tennis, and uses a lowered tennis net, a paddle, and a ball similar to a Wiffle ball. You’ll get it when you play it.

Late Night Exam Breakfast

The semi-annual Exam Breakfast is back! This favorite late-night meal will located in Brown Dining Hall, as per tradition, on Thursday, December 6, from 8:30 – 10:30 p.m. There will breakfast food, karaoke, and the best part: professors and staff serving food to the students.

Book Exchange

The Disability Cultural Center, located on the bottom floor of Ramsey near the CRAFT Studio, will kick off its first ever Book Exchange on Reading Day, December 5, from 10 – 11 a.m. Bring one to three books to trade with fellow students, faculty and staff.  This year’s book exchange theme is “books that changed my views on life,” however, you can bring books on any topic or genre.

Exams can be exhausting and stressful; remember to take time for yourself this exam week!
