Learn about several key moments in South African histories of ceramic production tied to global modernisms and ceramics on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Lecture Hall.

Elizabeth Perrill, of the Department of Art and Art History at UNC Greensboro, will examine the diverse improvisations and entrepreneurial ventures celebrating and challenging what it means to be a contemporary Zulu-speaking ceramist.

A specialist in Southern African ceramics, Perrill was the Consulting Curator for African Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art from 2012-2018 and is currently Lead Curator for the exhibition “iNgqikithi yokuPhica / Weaving Meanings: Telephone Wire Basketry from South Africa” at the International Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 

This event is free and open to the public.

Visitor Parking
