Women of Distinction – Joseph Pearson Art Exhibition

August 9, 2021 - September 30, 2021

Event Navigation

UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library will host “Women of Distinction: If you can see it, you can be it!” featuring portraits by WNC artist Joseph Anthony Pearson from Aug. 9 to Sept. 30. An opening reception with the artist will be held from noon – 3 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the Blowers Gallery in Ramsey Library.

The collection of paintings feature women who have worked with determination to shape and support their families and communities. “My project may best be described as an effort to pay it forward. It pays homage to my last living aunt (age 97), the women of her generation, my mom and aunts who nurtured me and encouraged me in a life of service, and its many unsung heroines.” Along with family members, Pearson’s “Women of Distinction” collection includes portraits of female leaders in the Asheville community who have strived to make Western North Carolina a kinder and more inclusive place.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
