Stir and Cadence – An Evening of Music and Dance

Venue

Lipinsky Hall Auditorium

April 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free – $10

Event Navigation

On April 2 at 7 p.m., the Music and Dance Departments will host a collaborative concert in Lipinsky Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10.

The concert will feature the Contemporary Guitar Ensemble, the Contemporary Dance Class and the Afro Music Ensemble.

The Contemporary Guitar Ensemble is a fretboard-based ensemble that performs music and improvisations arranged or written for guitars, and directed by Tim Doyle. This semester the focus of the CGE was on the music of James Brown, whose guitar parts are always foundational to his songs.

The Contemporary Dance Class is a mixed-level group of dancers who have been working to find their weight, specific physical articulation, and effort qualities in their bodies’ relationships with time and space, directed by Michele Torino.

The Afro Music Ensemble studies West African drum and dance, drumming culture, dance, and stories of African culture, directed by Adama Dembele.
