Poster shows both authors' book coversEnglish faculty members David Brendan Hopes and Evan Gurney will read from their works at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, in Karpen Hall, Laurel Forum. This reading is free and open to everyone.

Hopes, an acclaimed playwright, poet and novelist, will lead from his latest novel, The Falls of the Wyona, winner of the 2018 Quill Prize for Fiction.

Gurney, who teaches an eclectic range of English courses, is especially interested in premodern literature and will read from his book, Love’s Quarrels: Reading Charity in Early Modern England, published in 2018.
