Noontime with the Bulldogs

The UNC Asheville athletics department will host Muffet McGraw (ACC Network/Notre Dame) and Josh Pastner (Georgia Tech) as guests on the next edition of “Noontime with the Bulldogs,” sponsored by Mako Medical. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, April 14 and will be hosted by Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone.

Currently an analyst on the ACC Network, McGraw is one of the winningest coaches in basketball history, leading the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball team to 936 wins, nine final fours and two national championships in 33 seasons. Prior to her time as a coach, McGraw played college hoops at Saint Joseph’s before a professional career with the California Dreams. Because of her outstanding accomplishments, McGraw was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011 and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. Guiding Notre Dame to its first national championship win in program history, McGraw earned Women’s Basketball Association and Naismith College Coach of the Year honors in 2011. McGraw, who ranks seventh all-time in women’s college basketball wins, earned her 800^th victory in the 2018 National Championship game, picking up her 900^th win against Lehigh later that year.

Pastner currently serves as the head coach of the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team. Taking over in 2016, Pastner has led the Yellow Jackets to 82 wins and the 2021 ACC Championship Title, earning a No. 9 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Born in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Pastner played his collegiate ball at Arizona, where he would later become an assistant for six seasons before landing his first head coaching job at the Division I level at Memphis in 2009. While at Memphis, Pastner coached the Tigers to three Conference USA Tournament Titles and two regular season titles and was named the 2010 Conference USA Coach of the Year. In 2017, Pastner was named the ACC Coach of the Year and the NABC District 2 Coach of the Year. Pastner has amassed a career record of 249-149 and was inducted into the Jewish Sports Heritage Association in 2019.
