Event Navigation

Public interest attorney Steven M. Druker, founder of the Alliance for Bio-Integrity, will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in UNC Asheville’s Rhoades Robinson Hall, Room 125, in an event co-sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Department of Environmental Studies and Living Web Farms. This event is free and open to everyone.
Druker, who took part in a legal battle against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that led to public release of FDA files on genetically engineered foods, also is the author of the book, Altered Genes, Twisted Truth – How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public.
Patryk Battle, Mills River farming expert and one of the principals of Living Web Farms, will lead a discussion with Druker, and then moderate a Q&A session. Dee Eggers, UNC Asheville associate professor of environmental studies, says it will offer “an interesting exploration of one of the most overlooked issues in bioethics.”
