Visiting Writer Series Fall 2020 – The Katherine Min Memorial Reading

UPDATE – Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Andrew Sean Greer, a friend of the late Katherine Min, will begin this event with a short reading and talk about Min.

The fall 2020 [Virtual] Visiting Writer Series from UNC Asheville’s Department of English begins with the Katherine Min Memorial Reading and will feature two alumni poets – Zefyr Lisowski and Jesse Rice-Evans. This online event is free and open to everyone, and takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Pre-registration is required and available at this link.

Co-hosts for this special reading will be best-selling novelist and UNC Asheville Writer-in-Residence Wiley Cash, and Professor of English Lori Horvitz, author of The Girls of Usually.

Zefyr Lisowski is a trans and queer writer, artist, and North Carolinian currently living in New York City. She is the author of Blood Box, winner of the Black River Editor’s Choice Award from Black Lawrence Press.

Jesse Rice-Evans
Jesse Rice-Evans

Jesse Rice-Evans, author of the poetry collection, The Uninhabitable (Sibling Rivalry Press), is a disabled queer Southerner, poet and rhetorician. She is working on her Ph.D. in English, composition and rhetoric at the CUNY Graduate Center.

This annual reading by alumni is held in honor of Katherine Min, the late writer and UNC Asheville faculty member, who was a mentor to many budding writers at the University. She died in March 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
