Documentary Screening: “America to Me – Tsunami of Privilege”

As part of UNC Asheville commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision that struck down school segregation laws, a segment of the documentary, America to Me, will be screened at 5 p.m. in the Highsmith Student Union Grotto. This event is free and open to everyone.

The segment, Tsunami of Privilege, delves into the experience of students at a racially diverse suburban Chicago high school.The documentary was produced by Steve James (Hoop Dreams, and Life Itself). Brook Thompson, UNC Asheville Department of Education teacher recruitment and retention liaison, will lead a post-film discussion.
