Dispatches from the Borderland, a video conference with activists in South Texas, will take place from noon-1:15 p.m. in the Highsmith Student Union, Alumni Hall. This event is free and open to everyone.

Based on their experience working with the South Texas Human Rights Center, Latinx activists Arianna Mendoza and Selina Sánchez will field questions from Asheville related migrant justice, including: What is the current legal process for people searching for asylum? How do you perceive media coverage about the current humanitarian crisis at U.S./Mexico border? What do you recommend we do from Asheville, N.C.?

Juan Sánchez Martinez, assistant professor of Spanish, joined by other members of UNC Asheville’s faculty, will host the Asheville end of this discussion.
