David Rakestraw, who is coordinating Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s COVID-19 technical response, will be the presenter in this online seminar from UNC Asheville’s Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Rakestraw, senior science advisor at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, formerly ran LLNL’s biodefense programs and is coordinating the lab’s COVID-19 technical response. He will speak about efforts to predict viral protein structures, develop medical countermeasures and improved diagnostics, design emergency ventilators, and support decision-making with systems analysis.
