UNC Asheville will host a screening of the documentary, “Black in Asheville,” with filmmaker Todd Gragg, on Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. in the Mullen & James Humanities Hall.

“Black In Asheville” brings together Asheville residents and historians to recount Asheville’s Black history, beginning with the Antebellum Period and exploring Reconstruction, Jim Crow and Black Code Laws, as well as impact of churches and schools on the progression of Black life. The film also examines life in Asheville for Black residents today, and seeks to define how the community can move forward.

Visitor Parking

Visitors may park in faculty/staff and All Permit lots from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends, holidays, and campus breaks. Visitors are not permitted to park in resident student lots at any time.
