Direct Admission Programs

Your college pathway has a local connection at UNC Asheville, with Asheville-Buncombe Technical, Blue Ridge, Haywood, and South Piedmont Community Colleges offering transfer students direct admission to North Carolina’s designated public liberal arts and sciences university.

Students who wish to participate in these Direct Admission Programs must satisfy the following requirements:

Asheville-Buncombe (A-B) Technical & Blue Ridge Community Colleges

  • Be a currently enrolled student at A-B Tech or Blue Ridge Community College in a degree-seeking capacity;
  • Submit an application to UNC Asheville by the application deadlines;
  • Submit the application fee or a fee waiver;
  • Complete all actions to commit to UNC Asheville, including but not limited to submitting the enrollment form and deposit (when applicable);
  • Be in good standing at all institutions attended;
  • Earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; and
  • Enroll at UNC Asheville within one academic year (fall and spring semester) of completing an associate’s degree.*

*The Direct Admission Program requires completion of the Associate’s degree for guaranteed admission. In some cases, however, a student may matriculate to UNC Asheville outside of the program prior to completion of an associate’s degree. In this event, a Reverse Transfer Process provides the opportunity for students to complete their associate’s degree after transferring to UNC Asheville.
