Lorena Russell is an associate professor in the Department of Literature and Language. She developed her interest in Women’s Studies as an undergraduate at UNC Asheville. She went on to get her Ph.D. (minor in WMST; major in English) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and taught sexuality studies at Duke University before returning to UNCA, where she also teaches in the Humanities program and in Honors. Her academic interests include feminist theory, queer theory, postcolonial fiction and film studies. She has published articles on authors Jeanette Winterson, Fay Weldon and Angela Carter as well as the film Alien3 and the HBO series The Sopranos and Six Feet Under.
