10 Guidelines for Legal Parking

Please request a copy of “Regulations Governing Traffic, Parking and the Registration of Motor Vehicles”for complete details of policies.

One of Campus Police’s main goals is to educate the campus about parking policies in order to be fair to those that purchase parking permits. We are here to help you! If you don’t know the answer just ask Campus Police 251-6710.

Parking permit sales are non-refundable. A lost permit must be purchased at full cost.

All parking permits must be displayed properly (HANGTAGS on rear view mirror facing out and DECALS on rear windshield upper right hand corner). Parking permits are required for anyone parking on campus (including visitors & vendors) fall & spring semester Mon.- Fri. 7:30am 5pm, except holidays & campus breaks.

Freshmen are not permitted to park at UNC Asheville in any parking lots (For Freshmen Parking Applications ask Campus Police). Freshmen can be fined $100, booted and/or towed if possessing an illegal parking permit.

Commuter Student & Faculty/Staff (including Graduate, NCCCR, Facilities Users) must display their permit, which allows them to park in particular areas (see MAP) Mon.- Fri. 7:30 am 5:00 pm, except holidays & campus breaks.

Resident permitted vehicles must always park in resident lots, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. NO open parking for resident students at anytime (including nights, weekends & holidays).

Parking illegally can result in 4 citations. Upon the 5th citation the vehicle will be “booted”. Upon the 6th citation the vehicle will be towed from campus and parking privileges will be revoked. These penalties are reserved for repetitive parking violations during the year. Paying a fine DOES NOT prevent further penalties.

Parking for longer than 15 minutes in a “15 minute parking” space can result in multiple tickets. If the vehicle has not moved after one hour the vehicle will be booted.

All reserved spaces, handicap spaces, visitor spaces, 15-minute spaces, no-parking areas, fire zones, service vehicle spaces and bus-stop areas are monitored heavily 24/7!
